In the years since problems with the oral contraceptive Yaz have been made public, many women have filed lawsuits against Bayer, the pharmaceutical company that developed Yaz. In order to win compensation for the damages caused by Yaz, a Yaz blood clot lawyer must prove that Bayer was cognizant of the health risks posed by Yaz but failed to make those risks clear to consumers. These legal cases are aided by the fact that Bayer has been served with three FDA warning letters. The letters stated that Bayer had engaged in untruthful advertising, exaggerating the effectiveness of Yaz while diminishing its risks. Women who saw those advertisements believed that Yaz would help alleviate PMS symptoms and acne, and did not know that by taking the drug, they had a higher risk of stroke, thrombosis and other conditions caused by excessive blood clotting. The FDA forced the company to issue revisionist advertising campaigns, as well as strengthen the language of the prescription’s package warning insert.
